It’s official: NBC’s puzzlebox supernatural drama Manifest will be back for its third season this spring. (And we now know exactly when.)

Season 3 will officially premiere on Thursday, April 1, a scheduling move that will see the network’s hallmark Thursday night comedy block take a breather for just the second time since the 1980s. It is also the first time a drama will lead off the night at the 8 pm hour, surely a sign of network confidence in the drama’s likely success – or at least a desire to expose the show to a wider audience.

Manifest will be followed by the new season of Good Girls.

The series centers on a group of passengers onboard Flight 828, which disappeared on the way back to New York from Jamaica and was presumed lost, along with all the souls aboard. Mysteriously the plane – along with all its passengers – suddenly reappeared five years later. (Though for those aboard no additional time has passed.) Thus far, no one has been able to explain what happened to the plane or how its passengers are still alive.

As the survivors struggle to understand what happened to them, the story expands to include everything from government conspiracies to potential time travel. And season 2 ended on a wild series of cliffhangers, including several that very well may upend the world of the show as we know it.

Other than the premiere date, however, we know very little about what to expect from the series’ third outing. This official NBC logline for the new season is as vague and weird as you might expect.

"While the Stone family endeavors to keep their friends safe and make their enemies believe the unbelievable, new challenges will test their trust of the callings and each other … But sticking together is more important than ever, because no matter what happens, it’s all connected."

Which, of course, all sounds great, but doesn’t exactly reference any of the show’s outstanding plot points, which most of the fanbase has been ruminating about for over a year at this point. Fingers crossed the season 3 trailer – whenever it drops in the coming weeks – gives us more to work with.
