Alexander Skarsgard

It’s widely accepted common knowledge that the answer to just about all of life’s big questions can be answered with Alexander Skarsgard:

What do you want for your birthday? Alexander Skarsgard.

What do you want for dessert? Alexander Skarsgard.

Can I get you anything from the store? Alexander Skarsgard.

You get the idea.

When I asked fans about their ideas for actors to play Jesse Ward, Mr. Skarsgard was universally the top answer. Even Tosca Musk sees Skarsgard in the role.

(I see it, too, but I also see him playing William in Sylvain Reynard’s Florentine Series, so if we have to choose when to play the Skarsgard card then I think his immense talent should be used in that capacity. But I digress.)

If you think about Skarsgard’s role as the suave, debonair and utterly sexy Norse viking Eric Northman on HBO’s True Blood, then you can get a really strong sense of what he would be like as domineering Jesse Ward. Just as Eric pursued Sookie relentlessly and wanted her no matter the cost, Jesse will do anything to ensure Ava remains his. Eric and Jesse would be fast friends, that’s for sure.

The one downfall is the accent. Skarsgard is Swedish, not British. He’s so talented that there’s no question he could conjure up quite an English accent, but would it be the accent fans want in their Jesse? One thing’s for sure, though he lacks the accent, he makes up for it by being a perfect physical specimen for the role.
