Jay Lycurgo joins Titans season 3 cast as Tim Drake
Another Robin is coming to Gotham City in Titans season 3 as TV Line reports that Jay Lycurgo has landed the role of Tim Drake, the third young man to take up the Robin mantle. With Brenton Thwaites settling in as Nightwing and Curran Walters about to become Red Hood, the time has come to bring fan-favorite Tim Drake to life on the popular series.
Lycurgo, who will appear in the upcoming Matt Reeves film The Batman in 2022, will bring some much-needed levity and hope to the battle-scarred Titans team. Lycurgo also appeared in a guest role in the HBO series I May Destroy You.
Early reports suggest that Titans season 3 will continue to play upon the new energy the show found in season 2 after a tepid reception to the show’s freshman season.
Titans started out as an original series on DC’s DC Universe streaming service, which was absorbed by HBO Max. The series and movies moved to HBO Max while comic books rolled over to the new DC Universe Infinite earlier this month.
Another Robin Comes To Gotham City In Titans Season 3
Tim Drake might have had a hard life growing up on the streets, but the young genius still idolizes Batman and wants to be a detective. Of the three Robins thus far, Tim Drake is probably the best suited to become Batman’s sidekick because he wants the job more than anyone else. This will no doubt lead to drama with Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, who have both filled those roles and have very strong feelings about life in the Bat Family.
Now that Dick Grayson adopted the Nightwing persona in season 2, Curran Walters’ Jason Todd will transition from Robin #2 to Red Hood. DC Comics fans know that Jason Todd’s Red Hood identity comes at a great cost after he loses a battle with the Joker, but it’s unclear at this point how Robin will become Red Hood in Titans.
The Tim Drake casting news follows the recent announcement that Savannah Welch will play Barbara Gordon (aka Batgirl) in season 3. It sounds like Welch will arrive on the scene as Barbara Gordon post-The Killing Joke, which means she’s no longer able to be Batgirl.
There is no word on when Titans season 3 is set to premiere.
