While everyone has their favorite houses in the Harry Potter series, let’s talk about why Hufflepuff is one of the most important houses.

Out of the four Hogwarts houses, Slytherin and Gryffindor are not only the most talked-about but the most famous as well. Some of the greatest witches and wizards have come out of those two houses, famous and infamous. Hufflepuff specifically is not widely talked about so for that reason, let’s do that here.

"“You might belong in Hufflepuff,Where they are just and loyal,Those patient Hufflepuffs are true,And unafraid of toil.” – Sorting Hat"

Hufflepuff is known for being the most inclusive house of them all. It values being a loyal, hardworking person, rather than being competitive, making Hufflepuff one of the kindest houses. Some witches and wizards that have come from Hufflepuff might surprise you. Newt Scamander, from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Nymphadora Tonks, who was in The Order of the Phoenix and had a child with Remus Lupin, who, funny enough, their child, Teddy Lupin is also in Hufflepuff. Cedrick Diggory who fatefully was murdered by Voldemort in The Goblet of Fire, and Justin Finch-Fletchley, who was a member of Dumbledore’s Army. These witches and wizards all have two things in common: they were housed in Hufflepuff and were known for being loyal.

With those witches and wizards being key characters for the Hufflepuff house, we have to include the founder, Helga Hufflepuff. She helped create Hogwarts, and thus crafted the house of Hufflepuff, known for being dedicated to the most loyal, hard-working students. Helga Hufflepuff had a gift for charms relating to food, and some of her famous recipes are used in the Hogwarts feasts still to this day.

All four houses chose relics to represent themselves. Helga Hufflepuff chose a small golden cup as her house relic, a cup that was later turned into one of the infamous Horcruxes made by Tom Riddle aka Voldemort. A cup, that, incidentally enough, Hermonioe, one of the most loyal, hard-working Hogwarts student there ever was, destroyed in the Battle of Hogwarts.

With the Hufflepuff house being created without preferences, and based on being inclusive,  there’s no denying that it is one of the most important houses within Hogwarts. Whatever house you identify with, there’s no denying the promises that Hufflepuff has, had, and always will represent.
