Sarah Jessica Parker’s Sex and the City character was known for drinking cosmos with the girls, but it turns out that the actor who brought Carrie Bradshaw to life didn’t really embrace the iconic libation until after she was done filming the show.

Parker’s Carrie was always seen ordering a flirty cosmopolitan during her nights out on the town, but interestingly enough Parker herself never really cared for the drink while she was working on the show.

It’s not uncommon to learn that actors don’t always share the same fondness for things their characters enjoy, even though it sometimes seems like they should.

Carrie Bradshaw quickly became a style maven for the legions of fans who watched the show. From shoes to skirts and purses to cosmos, fans wanted to emulate their onscreen heroines as much as possible.

Sex And The City Star Didn’t Drink Cosmos Until After Filming

In a recent interview with New York Magazine’s Food Street blog, Parker noted that her appreciation for the drink came on subtly, and not for lack of offers.  “I would be served them at restaurants, or people sent them over, and I was always very grateful. But I didn’t really drink the cocktail until after we finished the show. I went to some place and had an exquisite one and then it started.”

Now it seems as though the tides have turned, and Parker has now embraced cosmos like everyone else, which is great news now that a sequel to HBO’s smash hit series is in the works.

Sex and the City lasted six seasons, running on HBO from 1998 to 2004. The concept was deceptively simple, following sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw and her friends Samantha (Kim Cattral), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) as they navigated life and love in New York City during their 30s and 40s.

The series spawned two feature films and will soon return to the small screen with And Just Like That, the ongoing adventures of Carrie and her friends (minus Cattrall’s Samantha) in their 50s. And Just Like That has no premiere date as of this writing.
