With the Fantastic Beasts series floundering, actor Rupert Grint commented on if he would consider returning for another Harry Potter movie.

With the release of the second season of his Apple TV+ series Servant set for January 15th, Rupert Grint was promoting the show in an interview with ComicBook.com’s Brandon Davis, and had some good news for anyone hoping to see him potentially appear as Ron Weasley again:

“I don’t know. I mean, never say never,” Grint says. “I would never say, ‘Absolutely no.’ It was a huge part of my life and I’m very fond of that character and their stories. So yeah, I mean, I’d be up for it at the right time. I don’t know what capacity that would be, but yeah, we’ll see.”

The Fantastic Beasts movies have been mired in controversy after controversy, so it would not be entirely unsurprising to see Warner Brothers try to go into a different direction with one of their largest franchises.

The easiest, and possibly most profitable for the giant studio, would be to bring back all three of the Golden Trio, with Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Grint reprising their roles in a new movie. The most logical option would be a straight film adaptation of The Cursed Child, the Broadway play that started in 2016.

While this would make the most sense since the story is already there, Cursed Child is not as loved by fans and could potentially not be the cash cow WB wants. A far more interesting story would be to explore the years just after the fall of Voldemort, as Harry, Ron, and Hermione try to clean up the Ministry of Magic, and deal with the possible mental and physical ramifications of being involved in the Second Wizarding War.

Bringing in a different screenwriter to pen this story would also make it a fresh story for fans, and something that would be welcomed by most everyone. Grint’s comments come at a time as most are wondering what the future of the Wizarding World movies holds, and if they are to bring everyone back, could spark the beginning of a new age of Potter fandom.
