The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade may not have its usual crowds this year, but you can still tune in for the festivities.

We’ve seen changes to our everyday and holiday routines thanks to COVID-19, but the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is still happening this year — just with necessary precautions in place. For one, the crowds of people that flood the New York City streets won’t be present and will need to watch the festivities from their own homes.

The parade also won’t be making its usual 2.5-mile trek, instead having balloons and floats make their way down a single street. Most of the performances will also be pre-recorded, so you can still tune in for some music, even if it’s on a lesser scale than every other year. The best of Broadway will also be in attendance, so you just might hear some Hamilton tunes if you’re watching. (That’s reason enough for us to check it out!)

NBC’s Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker will host the event, which will take place for three hours on Thanksgiving morning. Among the celebrity performers are Dolly Parton, Goo Goo Dolls, Ally Brook, Bebe Rexha, Brett Young, Patti LaBelle, Penatonix, Miss America Camille Schrier, and Keke Palmer. The New York City Ballet will also perform, along with other groups like the Mermaid Parade and Heritage Pride.

Just because many of us are home or seeing smaller groups for Thanksgiving doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy this holiday tradition!
