It’s important to think about who you trust in your life and why and the Harry Potter series helped to teach us that incredibly important lesson.

So much of the Harry Potter series is centered around betrayal. From Grindelwald betraying Dumbledore and down the line to Harry’s own family, there is so much that could have been solved by not turning on your friends.

That’s what this series really taught us as we were growing up. Let’s look specifically at the Marauders. James and Lily Potter trusted their friends. They were people they loved and cherished and they thought they could count on them to protect them and their young son.

But Peter Pettigrew sold them out to fall into good graces with Lord Voldemort and then he had to live his life as a rat for over 10 years because of it. He betrayed Lily Potter and James Potter and he betrayed Sirius Black and Remus Lupin with no remorse.

So while the series does a great job of teaching us of the importance of friendship, it also was a cautionary tale on making sure you know who you can and cannot trust. For so many of us, we want to tell our friends everything and let them know our thoughts and feelings but it’s hard.

And basically what the Harry Potter series did was teach some of us to keep some things close to heart. Should we worry that our friends will betray us each day? Of course not but it is important to pay close attention to those closest to you and what they do and how they can hurt you without even knowing they’re doing so.

Peter Pettigrew betrayed his friends and he wasn’t the only one to do so in the Harry Potter series but hopefully his betrayal taught us all an important lesson.

Next. Let’s talk about the loners of the Harry Potter series. dark
