The six extra episodes of The Walking Dead season 10 will air in February 2021 and, as fans hoped, one of them will focus on Negan’s backstory.

The Walking Dead was one of the many shows that were affected by the pandemic and couldn’t shoot in the spring. That meant a full year’s delay for The Walking Dead season 11. However, it was announced over the summer that the show would film six additional episodes of season 10.

The six additional episodes will be set in the season 10 timeline but will tell some stories from the past while exploring the changing relationships among the group after the Whisperer war. The six bonus episodes also will help to set up the Commonwealth storyline that is coming in season 11.

Judging by the synopsis’ for the six extra episodes, it also looks like a couple of them will lay the groundwork for the upcoming Carol and Daryl spinoff while also giving both of those beloved characters the chance to develop on their own.

The Walking Dead has been filming these extra episodes for the last few months with stringent precautions for everyone to make sure that everyone was safe on set. The six bonus episodes of The Walking Dead will begin on February 28, 2021. The episodes will drop on Thursdays for those who subscribe to AMC+.
