How will J’onn J’onzz’ story end in Supergirl season 6?

Kara and Alex’s “Space Dad” has been put through the wringer the past couple of seasons, in dealing with both his own personal demons as well as the reappearances of his own brother and father. During the early seasons of Supergirl, J’onn acted as a mentor for the Danvers sisters, both personally and professionally. As Martian Manhunter, J’onn has proven invaluable in the fight against evil, even though he recently embraced a more passive outlook on life.

Following the death of his father, J’onn left the DEO, appointing Alex as his successor, and became more of a street-level hero as a pseudo-private investigator who specialized in helping aliens. Aside from providing a new alternate base of operations for a time, this storyline didn’t really take off as much as the build-up hyped it up to be.

Season 6 seems like it should follow through on this new, more zen-centered J’onn. Even if that means he has to leave his adoptive children behind. With the return of M’gann (Sharon Leal) at the end of last season, it would be great to continue to see their relationship bloom. We could easily envision J’onn returning to Mars along with M’gann to help contribute to the Martians’ quest for peace on their homeworld.
