When Chadwick Boseman realized his 21 Bridges co-star, Sienna Miller, was making less than him, he donated part of his salary to stop the pay disparity. That’s just one more reason why he was amazing.

Chadwick Boseman has shown us time and time again just how amazing he was and now, we’re still learning about the brilliant things he did to help out in Hollywood. Like giving up part of his salary for 21 Bridges to help combat close the gender pay gap when he found out that his co-star Sienna Miller was making less than he was.

Miller played detective Frankie Burns and shared that Boseman, who was a producer on the project, was instrumental in getting her to sign on in the first place and really wanted her for the role because he had been a fan of her work.

According to Empire Online, Boseman went so far as to make sure Miller took the role and offered up some of his own salary to make sure she was paid fairly to join the project.

“I didn’t know whether or not to tell this story, and I haven’t yet. But I am going to tell it, because I think it’s a testament to who he was,” Miller told Empire. “This was a pretty big-budget film, and I know that everybody understands about the pay disparity in Hollywood, but I asked for a number that the studio wouldn’t get to. And because I was hesitant to go back to work and my daughter was starting school and it was an inconvenient time, I said, ‘I’ll do it if I’m compensated in the right way.’ And Chadwick ended up donating some of his salary to get me to the number that I had asked for. He said that that was what I deserved to be paid.”

What this all says about Chadwick Boseman is that he was a man who looked out for those he thought had the talent and the will to bring a story to life. He fought to get Sienna Miller on this project because he thought she was the best for the role. Constantly, he showed us all that he was one of the best among us and hearing these stories does help fans cope.

For so many of us, losing Chadwick Boseman was losing a hero and not just the hero he helped bring to life on screen. He was an incredible man and, hopefully, his legacy lives on through stories like this, showing that he fought for everyone and wanted to bring beautiful stories to life.
