Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD season 7 episode 8 preview: Afterlife
Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD brings back more familiar faces in this week’s episode. Can Jiaying help Elena reclaim her powers?
Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD really does want to pull out all the stops in its final season.
This week’s stop on the time travel train? Afterlife.
That’s right! We’re going back to season two, people! Here is the official synopsis for this week’s episode, “After, Before,” courtesy of ABC:
"“With the Zephyr’s time drive malfunctioning, the team is quite literally hurling toward disaster and Yo-Yo may be their only hope. The only problem? To get her powers back, she’ll need to enlist the help of an old adversary and revisit part of her past long hidden away.”"
Okay, so the old adversary is definitely Jiaying. The team’s headed to Afterlife to figure out what’s going on with Elena. Which means this will be a great episode for Daisy and her mental health.
And the title’s definitely a play on Afterlife. We’re seeing a younger version of Jiaying with no scars, no mutilation at the hands of Werner Reinhardt and no Cal stitching her back together and making her the antagonist we saw in season two.
So maybe this won’t be too bad of an episode for Daisy. Has Jiaying had her yet? Has she even met Cal? Oh man, if we get a Calvin Zabo cameo, that will make me insanely happy. Heck, I would take a Raina cameo, if only to see Ruth Negga one more time on Agents of SHIELD.
Aside from visiting Afterlife, it sounds like the Zephyr will be having time traveling issues once more. Does that mean we’re going to lose track of the Chronicoms completely? Or be on an even worse time constraint?
At the very least, we’re going to have to wait and see just where Agents of SHIELD wants to take us. Maybe we’ll see Fitz sometime this season.
