Iron Fist’s Jessica Henwick is slated to be both writer and producer of an Asian American YA series titled Nancy Wu Done It on Amazon.

While we may never get that missed Daughters of the Dragon spin-off (sigh), Iron Fist star Jessica Henwick doesn’t show signs of slowing down anytime soon.

On the heels of news that she’s been cast as a lead in the upcoming Matrix 4, Henwick will be doubling down as both writer and producer of Nancy Wu Done It, an Asian American YA series. She will be partnering with Kai Yu Wu (Carnival Row), making this upcoming project one of the, unfortunately, few series led by a team of Asian women.

Nancy Wu Done It is described as a comedy about a frustrated Asian American young adult author who suddenly finds herself trapped in one of her own novels. In order to get out, she must team up with the novel’s titular heroine, who she has grown to despise over time.

The series will be produced by Amazon Studios in association with Vertigo Entertainment, with Vertigo alums Roy Lee and Miri Yoon serving as executive producers.

Henwick, is probably best known for her portrayal as comic book heroine Colleen Wing in multiple Marvel Netflix series, including Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders. Henwick’s performance was one of the few highlights of the Iron Fist series, and her long-awaited team-up with Simone Missick’s Misty Knight was one of the best moments of The Defenders. Season 2 of Iron Fist left on something of a cliffhanger, as Collen became an Iron Fist herself, with the ability to channel her Chi energy through her trademark katana blade.

Henwick’s other credits include Game of Thrones and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. She most recently co-starred in the thriller Underwater with Kristen Stewart. Besides Matrix 4 and Nancy Wu Done It, Henwick is also signed on to star in Sofia Coppola’s On the Rocks and Godzilla vs. Kong.
