Fans of the Henry Cavill Superman may have reason to celebrate – the actor may not be done with the role just yet.

It looks like Henry Cavill may not be finished with the DCEU after all. After years of speculation at this point, we finally have news about what the future may hold for Superman. And it is starting to look good.

According to a report from Deadline, it seems that there are currently talks between Cavill and Warner Bros. to discuss his future as a part of the DCEU. Considering we have been talking about Superman’s future since at least 2018, this is definitely a step in the right direction when it comes to getting the actor back into his cape.

And while the news is currently just talks that are happening, it does offer some hope for those of us who are major fans of Cavill’s version of Superman. However, at this point, we are not expecting to see the actor in a Man of Steel 2, as this sequel appears to have been put on the back burner.

How will they utilize Henry Cavill as Superman?

Instead, it seems that Superman would be utilized in a similar manner to Nick Fury over in the MCU. He would be the connection these movies need to allow them to be part of the same universe, without needing so much overlap that it ruins the story.

At this point, we have an idea of which movies Cavill will not be making a cameo in, which includes Wonder Woman 1984 and The Batman, but that still leaves movies such as Shazam 2, Aquaman 2, Black Adam, and more open for a Superman appearance.

Maybe it’s just me, but this is the kind of news that is extremely exciting.

Not only does this mean we could really see more of the Justice League team working together in solo movies, but it also means that there is hope for the DCEU to really build the Cinematic Universe they have been working so hard on for years. They may not be at the MCU’s level just yet, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a possibility.

I think having Superman appear in Aquaman 2 would be a brilliant move. These two have already worked together once, and it is clear that Jason Momoa and Henry Cavill have a great deal of on screen chemistry. It would also be a great way to build up the idea of Superman acting as the connective fiber of the DCEU.

And don’t even get me started on the possibilities of Shazam 2 and a Superman cameo. After the tease of Shazam knowing Superman at the end of the first movie, actually getting Henry Cavill to appear in the sequel would be a brilliant way to tie all of that together.

Knowing that there are talks in the works is exciting all around. And we can only hope that everything comes together and Cavill once again dons the cape of the Man of Steel.
