Ahead of the final season premiere of Agents of SHIELD, we take a look back at some of the best episodes that have made this Marvel series a must-see.

The seventh and final season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD premieres on Wednesday, May 27 and promises to bring seven years of stories to an end. Agents of SHIELD is a special kind of Marvel series; unlike the Netflix shows, it has direct ties with the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Nick Fury, Maria Hill, and Lady Sif all appeared in early episodes to help lay the groundwork of this espionage/adventure show focused on a group of SHIELD agents led by Phillip Coulson (Clark Gregg). The show would eventually find its footing and create it’s own mythology by exploring themes of identity, family, and justice.

Although the team roster went through the occasional change, the core characters of Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), Skye/Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet), Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), and Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) have been around since the beginning and will be part of the final season.

The team has faced off against various bad guys, from the militant Kree species and evil Inhumans to deranged LMD’s (Life Model Decoys) who sought to eliminate mankind. The show itself is an action-packed, and often intense, joyride, but at its heart, is about a chosen family and fighting for good alongside each other.

With the final season upon us, we’re taking a look back at some of the Agents of SHIELD episodes that hit us in the feels in all the right ways.
