The DC Universe is seemingly contemplating following in The CW’s Arrowverse’s footsteps by having some of its Titans characters spin-off into their own series.

It was probably just a matter of time, but DC Universe, the streaming service providing syndicated and original content based on DC Comics, is apparently thinking about creating at least one spin-off from its flagship Titans series. While season one was a bit of a hot mess, especially when it came to depicting its female characters, season two was a vast, yet still uneven, improvement.

Reports have indicated that the DC Universe is going to be around for at least a couple more years, despite the DC/HBO Max deal that was solidified earlier this year. However, DC Universe will continue to focus on smaller (i.e. lesser known) projects, and seeing as how Titans has been their biggest hit yet, it makes sense to build around that. With all the characters the show has, creating additional shows like The CW’s Arrowverse has done, is a safe bet to securing current audience numbers while also growing them.

The proposed spin-offs wouldn’t be the first, since technically the Doom Patrol series is a spin-off already. However, there has been little to no interaction between the characters on the show since they were established to be set in the same universe as the one The Flash, Supergirl, and Batwoman take place in during this year’s Crisis on Infinite Earths. Members of Titans and Doom Patrol even made cameo appearances during the crossover event.

If there’s going to be a spin-off, there is a multitude of possibilities. When the show was first announced, there were rumors of Hawk and Dove getting their own spin-off down the road. However, given what Hawk and Dove went through by the end of season two, this is unlikely at this point. Another possibility is splitting the team into two, one based on opposite coasts of the country. Similar to what the Justice League has done in the comics, Teen Titans briefly split into two teams, one on the west coast and Titans East on the east coast. The show certainly has enough characters to accomplish this. There have also been rumors of Jason Todd trading in his Robin identity and becoming the Red Hood, like he did in the comics.
