Tom Felton is quite upset after being sorted into Hufflepuff

Tom Felton recently took a Hogwarts Sorting Hat quiz — and he didn’t get the house everyone (including Tom) might have expected.

At this point, just about everyone has done some kind of Harry Potter test to see what Hogwarts house they’d be sorted into. Even if you’ve never seen the movies or read the books, chances are you still know whether you’re a Gryffindor, a Hufflepuff, a Ravenclaw, or a Slytherin. (I’m a Hufflepuff, in case you were wondering.)

Recently, Tom Felton took his turn at the Wizarding World Sorting Hat test, and while he may play Slytherin student Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies, he was not sorted into Slytherin. According to the Wizarding World website, he is actually a Hufflepuff. And while it’s unbelievable that anyone would be upset about being a Hufflepuff, Felton was less than pleased.

He posted his results on Instagram with the caption “A sad day….on so many levels” with the hashtag #harrypotterathome. This outcome is perhaps even funnier because he didn’t use his real name; he used his character’s name. How did a website set up to tell someone what their house is not make someone named Draco Malfoy a Slytherin?

Yes, you have to answer a few questions determining what you would do in certain situations, but come on! The algorithm should have anyone named Draco Malfoy as a default Slytherin. It’s only right.

That being said, Felton should be happy. Hufflepuffs may be considered the “soft”, optimistic, cake-eating, bookish house, but they’re a whole lot more than that. The house traits are dedication, patience, and loyalty, and sometimes dedication and loyalty means you stab your best friend’s enemy in the back … just saying. If Harry Potter’s best friends were Hufflepuffs, maybe he wouldn’t have had to do so much fighting.

But I can’t blame Felton entirely. If I was sorted into Gryffindor after years of getting Hufflepuff, I would be pissed. No offense to Gryffindor, but Harry, Hermione, and Ron got into loads of trouble. And yes, you should fight an evil lord trying to take over the world, but do you really need to follow a trail of spiders into a creepy forest with your arachnophobic friend? And when you’re attacked by a hoard of spiders, who is really to blame? Give Ron a break, Harry!

Fred and George Weasley are the role models we need right now. dark. Next
