The first footage and release date for Hulu’s Love, Simon spin-off have arrived. And if you’re a fan of coffee and romance, it looks like Love, Victor could be the series for you.

Adaptations of popular YA novels can be pretty hit or miss, but Love, Simon — the 2018 release based on Becky Albertalli’s Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda — definitely landed in the “hit” category. In fact, the film proved successful enough that Disney wanted to make a spin-off of it. And while that spin-off series, titled Love, Victor, was moved from Disney+ to Hulu recently, the first bit of footage looks like it’ll appeal to Simon fans — especially those who like their romance with a side of caffeine. (Come on, who doesn’t?)

The first look, unveiled Sunday night during GLAAD’s Together in Pride live stream event, shows the titular Victor (played by Michael Cimino) applying for a job at a coffee shop. Of course, there has to be some obstacle in Victor’s way — and that obstacle comes in the form of his classmate, Benji, who will be interviewing him for the position.

Watch Hulu’s first footage of Love, Victor here:

Sparks fly as Victor demonstrates his ability to make a latte to Benji — well, at least until Victor’s being distracted results in milk flying everywhere. The clip is short, but it suggests a series every bit as sweet, comical, and awkward as Love, Simon, and that’s pretty much what fans are here for, isn’t it?

Along with the new footage, Hulu also revealed the premiere date for Love, Victor — and it’s pretty soon. The series will arrive on the platform on June 19. Not only does this mean viewers will have an adorable romance story to look forward to this summer, but it also falls in the midst of pride month. What better time is there to release what’s likely to become a new LGBTQ+ hit?
