Season 3 of HBO’s Westworld continues this Sunday, with an episode that looks as though it might give us some answers about what, exactly, is in Charlotte Hale’s body.

As season 3 of Westworld continues, it looks like we might finally get some answers. Well, as much as this show ever gives us. Maybe? Hopefully?

The season’s third episode is entitled “The Absence of Field”, and it  appears as though it’s going to focus on Charlotte Hale – or, at least, the being that is currently existing inside Charlotte Hale’s body. Whoever that is.

To be fair, we never knew that much about the real Charlotte Hale, back when she was herself. (Surprise, did we know she had a child? I don’t remember that at all.)

The official synopsis for “The Absence of Field” is as vague as ever, and feels as though it could apply to both Caleb and this strange Charlotte who is not actually Charlotte.

"Some do not like what they see in the mirror but shouldn’t blame the mirror."

Whatever’s going on with The Being That Is In Charlotte Hale isn’t the only big plot point that seems to be a focus of this episode. In the promo trailer, we see Dolores deploying  her best revolutionary recruitment effort on Caleb.

Despite Dolores’ insistence that she can start a revolution and change the world – we’re still not clear what it is exactly that she’s trying to do (beyond somehow access super AI Rehoboam).

One has to assume that an episode entitled “The Absence of Field” is somehow connected to poet Mark Strand’s “Keeping Things Whole,”  and a line which reads “In a field / I am the absence / of field. / This is / always the case. / Wherever I am / I am what is missing.”

Does that not sound like….whatever is going on with this Charlotte? No matter who is wearing her face, they seem to be somehow adapting to fill the missing space she used to occupy. And what does that mean for the future of this story?
