Social Distance and Binge: What to watch on Netflix this week
By Sabrina Reed
Black Lightning Season 3
Like All American, Black Lightning just finished up its third season run on The CW. When we last left the Pierces, Agent Odell had revealed he knew their secret. Now Jefferson and Lynn are under his thumb, locked away in the belly of an underground facility while their daughters, Anissa and Jennifer, are trying to hold together a rapidly fracturing Freeland.
The Markovians are ready for war with Freeland as the battleground, and with Black Lightning nowhere to be found, there is unrest among the people. Soldiers are sweeping through the city, people are being rounded up in put in cages, and the social commentary is through the roof as per usual with this series.
Now that Tobias Whale has been thrown into The Pit, there’s room for a new big bad to step into his shoes. What new evil will rise in his stead? The repercussions of a Markovian invasion? The powder keg that Freeland is becoming as it’s brought to the brink of war? Or the insidious nature of Agent Odell’s “protection” as he holds Jefferson and Lynn hostage?
