This week’s Grey’s Anatomy episode finally revealed who the father of Amelia’s baby is after weeks of speculation among viewers.

After an arguably unbearable wait, Grey’s Anatomy finally revealed the identity of the father of Amelia’s baby at the tail end of this week’s episode.

But before that, the drama hit hard for our usual cast of characters. Richard formally resigns his position as a surgeon, Teddy tells Owen he might be the father of Amelia’s baby (Why? Because apparently we’re supposed to hate her now?), and Tom does a terrible job of handling a moral dilemma. That’s not including the part where he presumably slept with Owen’s fiancé. Again.

Based on what we’ve already seen from next week’s promo, the outcome of Meredith’s patient with diabetes has already motivated her to do more to help more Seattle patients in need. It also looks like DeLuca’s denial about his condition is only going to make things worse based on how he hit on Jo at the bar (not cool, dude).

In one of the most empowering monologues we’ve heard on this show in a long time, Jo tells Link Alex leaving isn’t going to knock her down — and that, along the same thread, he shouldn’t let Amelia go.

And it’s a good thing he doesn’t, because directly after he tells her he loves her, she tells him that he is, in fact, the father of her child. Finally!

While it’s not clear what the point of drawing out this “who’s really the father” storyline for so many episodes was, we knew it was always going to be him, didn’t we? At least now we know nothing will ever be able to break Amelink apart.

Right? Right … ?

I’ve said it a dozen times before, and I’ll say it again: Amelia deserves to be happy. Even if you’re not a fan of the way this storyline has been handled, we still need to take a minute to be happy for her. For both of them, really.

Neither had an easy time growing up, and after all their years of struggling, they finally found each other to lean on. This kid is going to have quite a fine set of parents.

We joke and say that no one on Grey’s Anatomy is ever allowed to stay happy. And maybe, in the long-term, this is true. But let’s just allow ourselves this moment, this hope that at least one couple will get a happy ending that lasts.

There’s certainly no shortage of drama among every other couple and character going on right now. Maybe just one pair can live in peace amidst the chaos.

Next. Grey's Anatomy has a long-term relationship problem. dark

Were you happy that Amelia and Link found their way back to each other? Do you think the good times will last?
