Things are getting extra complicated on The Bold Type, and there could be more than one break-up on the way. Here’s what went down this week.

There’s just two words to sum things up on The Bold Type this week: Oh brother.

Is it just me, or was this week’s episode dragging its feet a bit? There were some big moments, and certainly some big issues discussed, but it just felt long. I don’t know that I’ve ever felt that way about The Bold Type, which is…weird.

Let’s start with the actual brother of the episode, shall we? Chord Overstreet made his TBT debut as Evan, Jane’s seemingly perfect brother. He’s got a loving wife, two kids, a great job, and nothing but love and support for his sister.

Naturally, it took all of ten seconds for him to pounce on Ryan’s indiscretions. As far as big brothers go though, Evan was pretty low-key about it. Still, Ryan doesn’t love when his mistakes are brought up, well, ever, so he makes a swift exit.

You really want to impress us with your growth, Pinstripe? You could’ve stayed there and taken it. Another apology couldn’t have hurt either. Of course, it’s hard to expect anyone to sit through that, so I suppose we can let it slide.

In an effort to make things easier for Jane, Ryan agrees to give hanging out with Evan another shot. And it goes great! Bonding over hockey and beer, Evan and Ryan seemingly buried the hatchet, and showed just how much easier men really have it.

That is, until Ryan comes back to the bar to use the bathroom and spots Evan kissing another woman. As it turns out, Evan’s life isn’t so perfect; he and his wife have been separated for two months, after she cheated on and subsequently left him.

At the request of Evan, Ryan tells Jane nothing of what he saw or what he knows now. It might be the textbook definition of being caught between a rock and a hard place.

Fortunately, Evan does come clean before he leaves. Still, Jane isn’t too happy that Ryan kept this secret from her. It’s the first lie we’ve seen between them since the cheating fiasco and it is not sitting well with Jane. Could Janestripe’s days be numbered once again?

Honestly, I care more about the other impending break-up of The Bold Type. Because, in a fully expected twist, Sutton has indeed decided to move to San Fransisco to be with Richard.

It makes total sense; long distance is hard and work is going terribly for Sutton. But the thought of our OT3 being on opposite coasts? Not something I’m even a little bit prepared to deal with. So Richard, if you could be a doll and get this new job of yours back to New York, that’d be great.

We can’t say goodbye to moments like Kat taking full advantage of Richard’s bathtub while Jane tries out the shower, only to have Richard come home early and catch them all. We just can’t. How else would we have learned Kat’s full name is Katrina?!

No, I refuse to accept this reality just yet.

But, speaking of refusing to accept an answer, welcome to the rebellion Adena!

Yet again, Safford is on the wrong side of progress. When Adena wants to highlight the life, and tragic suicide of an Alabama teen who was sent to conversion therapy, she’s met with a resounding no from the board.

In a heart-wrenching moment, it’s revealed that when Adena came out to her parents, her father sent her to conversion therapy too. If it weren’t for her mother, Adena might’ve ended up just like Travis, so this story hits particularly close to home.

Jacqueline couldn’t make it happen, but there’s one person who has a ton of experience getting around the board. And so, Kadena is reunited once more. It’s only slightly less angsty than last week’s reunion, but the women are on a mission.

They haven’t cracked it yet, but knowing Kat and Adena – especially with the support of Jacqueline – they’ll find the answer.

It’s been fun watching Kat repeatedly save the day when it comes to big stories like this. But at what point do we start getting worried that her continuous pushing against Safford will get her into trouble?
