Batwoman season 1 episode 14 preview: A dangerous affair

The preview for tonight’s episode of Batwoman suggests Kate will have to make a choice about Batwoman’s romance with Sophie — and it may not end well for either of them.

The most recent episode of Batwoman ended with a long-awaited kiss between Sophie and the caped crusader herself. But even if fans have been waiting for something like this for the majority of the first season, this new development brings all kinds of complications with it. For one, Sophie still has no idea who’s actually behind the mask.

There’s also the fact that anyone Batwoman openly admits to having feelings for will become a weakness that villains will attempt to exploit, something Luke correctly points out during the promo for tonight’s episode. “Grinning From Ear to Ear” shows that last week’s kiss between Batwoman and Sophie wasn’t a one-time thing — but if Kate takes Luke’s advice to heart, their relationship is still likely to be shortlived.

And it looks like Luke’s prediction may also come to fruition during “Grinning From Ear to Ear.” A new villain appears in the preview, and there’s a glimpse of her holding her box cutter to Sophie’s throat. Given that she seemingly only goes after children, targeting Sophie is probably a means of getting to Batwoman. Let’s just hope Sophie survives the encounter.

While this villain seems to have taken an interest in Kate and Sophie, she also manages to catch Alice’s attention. The promo sees Alice staring at a picture of the show’s latest addition, fondly commenting that she’s an “interesting little psycho.” Is Alice searching for a new partner now that Mouse is out of her grasp? She’ll need help getting revenge against his father, and this could be her opporunity to recruit someone new.

We’ll find out more about Alice’s plan going forward during tonight’s episode — and we’ll see where Sophie’s story arc goes from here. With any luck, she’ll still be able to aid Batwoman against any new villains that pop up — perhaps without ruining their relationship with one another.
