What does The New Mutants’ PG-13 rating mean for the film?
The New Mutants, a movie that was seemingly never coming out, is on its way — and it has a PG-13 rating. So, what does that mean for the X-Men universe flick?
If you’re a fan of the X-Men franchise, you’ve probably been waiting for The New Mutants for quite some time. For a while, the movie kept getting delayed, and whatever hopes fans had for the film were slowly fading away.
Now, though, The New Mutants is on its way. But it’s also officially been given a PG-13 rating. So, what does that mean for the film? Well, honestly, nothing.
A PG-13 rating is pretty par for the course with the X-Men franchise. Literally, the only X-Men adjacent movies not rated PG-13 are Deadpool and Logan, both of which are rated R for obvious reasons.
That said, maybe it should give us a little bit of hope that The New Mutants is right on track with the rest of the franchise. But, then again, the X-Men movies haven’t always been the best representation of their comic universe….
Much of fans’ fear comes from the fact that the movie went through many reshoots and delays and sat on a shelf for two years before now. Originally supposed to be an April 2018 release, the movie is coming out in 2020 — and while the PG-13 rating is a good sign, fans do have a lot of concerns about the movie and its overall quality.
What exactly are we in for with a movie that has, seemingly, had so many hiccups along the way? Is it going to be something worth releasing, especially now that the X-Men franchise belongs to Disney?
Seeing Game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams in a superhero movie is going to be fun but we’d be lying if we said there aren’t reservations about The New Mutants as a whole. At least the PG-13 rating suggests there will be interesting fight scenes throughout the movie.
