Celebrities honor Sex and the City, Hunger Games star Lynn Cohen

Lynn Cohen, best known for her role in Sex and the City, passed away at 86 years old. Here’s how her former co-stars are paying tribute to her.

It was with heavy hearts that most discovered Lynn Cohen, best known for her roles in Sex and the City and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, had passed away last week. She was 86 years old, and the official cause of her death remains unknown. She is survived by her husband, Richard T. Cohen.

From the reactions of her former co-stars, it’s clear Cohen was a beloved figure on and off set. Several of them have taken a moment over the past few days to say goodbye via Twitter and Instagram, each sharing kind words about her acting career and their personal relationships with her.

In her best-known role, Cohen portrayed Miranda’s housekeeper and nanny, Magda, on Sex and the City. She also appeared as Mags in the second Hunger Games movie, Catching Fire, and had smaller roles on a handful of other television shows, including The Marvelous Mrs. MaiselNurse Jackie, and Law and Order.

Sarah Jessica Parker, who worked with her on Sex and the City, took to Instagram to say, “Beautiful Lynn Cohen. Miranda’s dear and necessary Magda. Our dear SATC colleague. Talent, Grace, Inspiration. RIP.”

Willie Garson, known for playing Mozzie in the series, also posted about Cohen’s passing, sharing a photo of her on Twitter and writing, “Bless you and godspeed, our wonderful Magda for 15 years of episodes and films, thanks for your friendship and amazing talent…..”

Meanwhile, her Hunger Games co-star also took the time to honor her memory on social media. Sam Claflin, who played Finnick Odair in the later films, wrote on Twitter, “I’ll carry you everywhere. Always. Lots of love to you Lynn. Bless you. RIP x.” It’s a sweet message that also calls back to their characters, as Finnick carried Mags through the game, hoping to keep her alive with him.

Cohen had a long acting career that began in theater, with her appearing in Broadway shows such as Orpheus Descending and Ivanov. It’s clear that she left an impression on those she worked with on the projects that followed, and it certainly seems she’ll be missed.
