Sam Claflin cast as Billy Dunne in Amazon’s Daisy Jones & The Six
By Sabrina Reed
Hunger Games star Sam Claflin will be rocking and rolling as Billy Dunne in Amazon’s upcoming Daisy Jones & The Six adaptation.
Well Daisy Jones & The Six fans looks like Amazon has officially found our Billy Dunne. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire star Sam Claflin will be picking up his songbook and guitar to sing his heart out in the series produced by Hello Sunshine and Circle of Confusion.
With Claflin’s casting, the triangle at the heart of Daisy Jones & The Six has finally been angled off. Late last year Riley Keough was cast as the series’ frontwoman, Daisy, and Camila Morrone will step into the shoes of Camila, Billy’s girlfriend and muse.
In the book by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Billy is as charismatic as he is stubborn. Creatively, it’s largely his way or the highway, but when he’s paired with Daisy for a songwriting venture he’s challenged in more ways than one. The two clash but they make the kind of music together that makes them feel alive and threatens to set their lives on fire if they’re not careful.
Billy’s feelings for Daisy aren’t the only threat to the life he’s building with Camila. Like Daisy, Billy is an addict, but while she’s diving off of the deep end of her own chaos, he’s doing everything he can to hang onto his sobriety and make up for the mistakes he’s made.
It will be interesting to see how the series departs from the book. Currently, there is already a marked difference in the character of Camila who will be discovering her own potential as Billy and Daisy’s stars rise. How that affects her relationship with Billy, and whether it complicates it, brings them closer, or parallels his relationship with Daisy is a definite point of interest. As is who will be cast next.
Now that the triangle has been cast, the rest of The Six and Daisy’s best friend, Simone, won’t be far behind and this train can truly get to moving full speed ahead.
