Riverdale is trying to send Jughead to college — and not just any college. They’re trying to ship him off to Yale… if he survives the year.

Over the last few episodes of Riverdale, we have seen our favorite characters talking about college, sending out applications, and even getting rejection letters. However, in the latest episode, it seems that Jughead has been accepted to Yale.

However, thanks to the flash forward moments at the end of many of this year’s episode, we all know that Riverdale is planning to kill off Jughead. This means that the likelihood of Jug making it to Yale is pretty low, unless some miracle happens. (We are totally hoping for a miracle.)

I think the reason this moment really stood out to me is because even Jughead was quick to point out that he never submitted an application to Yale. Seriously, these teens are getting into Ivy League schools without even applying. It’s mind-blowing how easy it seems to be to get into college. (Mad Dog is apparently going to Notre Dame if you think I am exaggerating.)

Even if these Riverdale High students are getting into college way too easily, that doesn’t mean I was upset by Jug being accepted to Yale. As a fan of Jughead, I was excited to see him being accepted by his classmates and also getting a leg up in terms of his schooling. Knowing that he had what it takes to be recommended for Yale was actually pretty exciting, and it was also nice to see him getting to celebrate getting accepted with his father and classmates.

The sad thing about this entire situation is the fact that we have seen in flash forwards that it is Jughead who ends up dead before the school year is over. While we can hope that this is a fake out or some other false lead of sorts, it really does seem like Riverdale is planning to kill off Jughead, and that is tragic for so many reasons.

Jughead has always been a favorite character for a lot of us, and the idea of him being killed off is definitely devastating. It would be amazing to see what Jughead is able to do as a Yale student, so this entire episode felt like a bit of a heartbreaking moment because of what we know the future supposedly holds.
