The recent Super Nintendo Land announcement left theme park fans and Nintendo fans brimming with excitement. But can Orlando expect an epic adventure, too?

As more details emerge about the Super Nintendo Land coming to Universal Japan, the excitement is heading into hyper drive. While some people might make the long trek to Japan to experience this totally immersive theme park experience, others might wait for a similar version to appear in the United States. Could an Orlando epic adventure be in the cards?

Across Universal theme parks’ social channels, a video sharing some new details and visuals about the Super Nintendo Land was just released. In addition to the official press event, Universal shared a special announcement music video in partnership with Charlie XTC.

The music video is a rather slick production. While it does not show specific aspects of the real theme park, it gives a great sense of the feel to the guest experience. The idea is that the guest will feel as if he or she has entered the video game world. In a way, it is a fully realistic version of video game reality.

While the music video is entertaining, the little tidbits from the Universal Japan press event was much more telling. First, the interactive Power Up Bands are interesting. Although Universal Orlando Resort Volcano Bay has the Tapu Tapu, these Power Up Bands are very different.

According to the video, the interactive bands will impact the guests’ experiences inside Nintendo Land itself. It seems that the bands will be how guests collect points and rank themselves against other guests. In addition, the bands will remember the guests visit after visit.

While this concept is new for a Universal theme park, it does seem slightly similar to the experience that guests have at Galaxy Edge. For example, when guests ride Millennium Falcon, their “score” impacts their Galaxy’s Edge experience. A wearable band that tracks guests experiences sounds similar, doesn’t it?

Still, since Super Nintendo Land is based on video games, it makes sense that Universal will need a way to make playing and tracking play possible. A wearable wristband is the easiest way to make that scenario work.

It will be interesting to see how these Power Up Bands are greeted by the guests. Based on the video, there are several designs. But, like other wearable bands, will guests be able to personalize them? Also, are the bands tied to only one guest. (No cheating for better level-ups, right?) All of those details will be unveiled closer to the actual opening date.

One big part of the video announcement is the statement that New York City will be hosting a special Super Nintendo Land event. This special event will definitely get people excited about this totally different theme park land coming to Universal Japan. Although many people may not be able to visit the Japanese theme park, it could be excitement for Universal’s Epic Universe in Orlando.

Even though Universal Orlando Resort’s fourth theme park is several years away from opening, many people anxiously await all the details and start planning for the eventual opening. Given the size and scope for the new Orlando theme park, it will have people talking for years to come.

Until then, Super Nintendo Land at Universal Japan will have to capture everyone’s attention. Hopefully, the special event in New York City will hold even more clues to this epic adventure.

dark. Next. Universal Orlando will hit a high note for its 25th anniversary
