Hoping to watch the Harry Potter movies on TV this Christmas? Sadly, that isn’t in the stars. The magical movies won’t air on networks.

Every Christmas, we’ve usually had the chance to sit down and watch the Harry Potter movies together. That’s certainly been the case in the UK, as most years the movies air on ITV. That’s not going to be the case this year.

According to Heart, there are no plans to air the Harry Potter movies on network TV in the UK this Christmas. It’s not clear why that is the case. After all, there are certainly plenty fans who want to watch the movies with their friends and family.

So, what are your options instead? You’ll need to look for other ways to watch the movies. I’ll be honest and say this is why I’ve always kept the Blu-rays, because these movies go on and off streaming services a little too quickly! In fact, here in Canada, we only have the last two movies on Netflix. What about the rest?

Of course, if fans take to social media, the UK networks may decide to air the movies after all. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 did air on Dec. 1. It’s clear that there is a request for the movies, so maybe the networks will realize the mistake they’re making.
