The new trailer for The CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths takes our heroes to Earth 38 to stop the destruction of everything they know — but are they really doomed?

Fans of The CW’s many DC television series have been eagerly awaiting the crossover between them all — Crisis on Infinite Earths — which arrives in less than a week now. And yesterday, the network dropped the final trailer for the event, which promises to be an epic installment in DC’s television lineup.

The trailer shows our heroes assembling a team and heading to Earth 38 to prevent the destruction of everything they know and love. The stakes are high in Crisis on Infinite Earths, and whatever happens, there are sure to be consequences for some of our favorite series going forward.

Watch the new trailer for Crisis on Infinite Earths here:

The trailer opens with the logos of each of the television series involved in the event, then goes into an explanation of the Multiverse. It tells us that there’s a “malevolent force” at work — a wave of anti-matter — that’s destroying everything in the universe that it comes into contact with.

We get a shot of our heroes gathered at Earth 38, also listening to an description of the threat at hand, right before one of them points out the obvious: This is going to require a bigger team. This is followed by glimpses of them finding the other heroes who can help stop this. This includes Tom Wellington’s Superman, as well as Cress Williams’ Black Lightning and Kevin Conroy’s Batman.

Still, even with the heroes working together, this anti-matter wave looks like it could be the most difficult antagonist any of them have faced yet — and the evacuation of Earth 38 toward the end of the trailer suggests they may not be able to win.

Harrison Wells’ assessment of the situation in the trailer doesn’t exactly bode well either. “One thing is certain,” he says. “Everything we know, everything there is, and everything there ever was is doomed.” It’s quite a way to end the trailer, and it amps up the anticipation going into Crisis on Infinite Earths.

We’ll have to wait until the crossover airs to see if it will truly have such a massive impact on the universe — and thus The CW’s DC series — but it’s probably safe to say we’re supposed to be concerned after watching this first look.
