When The Walking Dead returns from midseason hiatus in February, the war against the Whisperers is going to kick into high gear as the communities fight to survive.

The Walking Dead wrapped up the first half of season 10 last Sunday, and fans already want more. Season 10 is now rated fresh by 92 percent of critics and 81 percent of fans on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans have been captivated by the amplified intensity of the story and the feel of the show this season.

As it turns out, that intensity and darkness of season 10A was just a warm up. The teaser trailer for The Walking Dead season 10B makes the first half of the season look tame in comparison to what’s coming as the battle against the Whisperers comes to a head.

Watch the teaser in this official Tweet from The Walking Dead’s Twitter account:

It looks like the Whisperers will continue to stoke paranoia in the survivors, particularly those in Alexandria, who are still reeling from the realization that Dante was a Whisperer who has been inside Alexandria for months.

But the psychological battles they’re fighting will pale in comparison to the battle against Alpha’s horde and against her army of Whisperers who are loyal to her. It will be time for the survivors to put all that training they did at Oceanside into practice. The Whisperer War is here on Sunday, February 23 when The Walking Dead returns for season 10B.

Michonne’s Exit

Even though the primary conflict in 10B will continue to be the fight against the Whisperers, the show is already laying the groundwork for the story arc that will come later and for the exit of Danai Gurira. The announcement that Paola Lazaro would be joining the cast in season 10 as the popular comic character called Princess implies that, by the end of season 10B, the Commonwealth arc will begin.

In that storyline, a group of the survivors find Princess on their way to tracking down a larger community. It’s been speculated that this arc could perfectly set up an exit for Michonne that would lead Michonne into the movies centered on Rick Grimes.

In The Walking Dead midseason finale, Michonne left Judith with the others and left on a boat with Virgil, to take him back to Bloodsworth Island and get weapons to help them fight the Whisperers. It’s also possible that she could find some clue about Rick’s survival at the former Naval base on Bloodsworth Island.

Fans will have to wait to get more clues about Michonne’s departure until February 23, when The Walking Dead returns for season 10B. But, it’s certain that no matter how her exit unfolds, fans will greatly miss this incredible character and Danai Gurira — and will be anxiously waiting to see Michonne in the Rick Grimes films.
