The Daisy Jones & the Six adaptation has found its leading lady: Riley Keough will be putting on some bangles and portraying Daisy Jones herself.

Well, folks, Ms. Tiny Love has been cast, and it seems fitting that Riley Keough, granddaughter of Elvis Presley, is putting on Daisy Jones’ bangles and rocking out barefoot in the Amazon adaptation of Daisy Jones & the Six.

The 12-episode series, helmed by Will Graham as part of his first look deal with Amazon Studios, is based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel of the same name. The show will follow a similar track to the book, focusing on Daisy’s journey from neglected rich girl exploring the L.A. rock scene to front woman for one of the hottest bands west of the Rio Grande in the 1970s.

Keough is no stranger to ’70s-era rock and roll. She made her film debut in The Runaways (2010) as Marie Currie, sister of The Runaways lead singer Cherie Currie (played by Dakota Fanning). Now it’s her turn to grab the mic and the spotlight to sing some loud, raucous, and beautiful songs.

If there’s anything you should know about Daisy, it’s that she isn’t looking to be anybody’s muse. But she’s not against being the kind of inspiration that gets girls out of the crowd and onto the stage. As she says, “Dream big, little bird,” and do what you want. That’s the kind of energy we all need in our lives.

But Daisy’s life isn’t all sunshine, despite living in L.A., and it isn’t roses either. Expect to see the very definition of sex, drugs, and rock and roll in Daisy Jones & the Six. As the song “Impossible Woman” describes, “She’s blues dressed up as rock and roll. Untouchable, she’ll never fold.” That’s Daisy no matter how much Billy Dunne, her band mate and writing partner, denies it.

Daisy Jones & the Six is an Amazon series created by Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber. The series is executive produced by Neustadter, Weber, Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter (Hello Sunshine), Will Graham (Field Trip Productions), Brad Mendelsohn (Circle of Confusion), and director Niki Caro. Taylor Jenkins Reid serves as producer.
