Riverdale might be dealing with a mystery surrounding Jughead and his future, but for now we have Archie going back to his vigilante days.

The fourth season of Riverdale is in full swing, and that means plenty of mystery, weirdness, and, of course, drama. But the one thing we were not expecting to see was the return of vigilante Archie. And yet, here we are, with Archie donning a hood and mask in an effort to supposedly save the day.

You would think that after going to Juvenile Hall because of his vigilante past that maybe Archie would have learned his lesson. Plus, with his father gone, it’s not like there is someone there to bail him out (even if his mom is a lawyer).

However, Riverdale is nothing if not a bit predictable. And it actually comes as no surprise that our leading man (of sorts) is back to his old ways. While it is likely that Veronica knows exactly what her boo is up to, she has her own issues to deal with — mainly, her parents’ courtroom drama. So, it makes sense that she is not really speaking up against Archie going rogue again.

Even though Archie is clearly trying to do the right thing with his masked vigilante actions, it feels like he is going down a dangerous path. And we aren’t even talking about the danger of the apparent gang that has taken up residence in Riverdale. No, this is a path of righteousness that could see him getting into even more trouble.

Considering Archie has already been in a courtroom defending his past behavior as a thug, you would think he would try to stay on the straight and narrow. And yet, here we are again.

The boxing gym might be keeping Archie in Riverdale, but it clearly is not keeping him out of trouble. Maybe it’s just me, but I was definitely hoping that the gym would be more than just a place for him to let out his aggressions. His plan of helping his hometown seemed like a worthy cause, and yet, it’s just not enough for him.

Perhaps Archie should consider offering his help to the Sheriff. If FP Jones can become a lawman, why can’t Archie Andrews? Then again, where would the drama and fun be in that? After all, so much of what makes our leading hero so tortured and interesting is his ability to go rogue and become a vigilante in town.

What do you think of Riverdale making Archie a vigilante again? Are you surprised to see him running around in a hood and mask trying to save the day (or rather the night)?
