The Good Place ended last week in a solid place: with everyone back together. But that happiness can’t last forever — and in this case, it doesn’t look like it lasts for long.

Nothing ever lasts on The Good Place. Heck, it only took one episode to get the whole band back together. Which isn’t a bad thing.

The Good Place suffers a bit when its characters are separated by such distances. The episodes are a little more rushed than normal, as each plotline could really be its own standalone episode.

But that bodes well for this week. Here is the official synopsis for this week’s episode, “A Chip Driver Mystery,” courtesy of NBC:

"“One of the new residents creates a division in the ranks.”"

By my careful deductions; I am going to guess that it’s Brent. It’s mostly based on the “Chip Driver” part of the episode’s name.

And if he’s not the main catalyst of the division that’s about to happen, he’s definitely going to be a portion of it.

We’ve already discussed how everyone is becoming better versions of themselves, which was the whole point of this experiment in the first place. But is it all about the test subjects or our four original humans? We probably won’t know until the credits roll on the series finale.

Meanwhile, I am very excited for this week’s episode solely because of Mike Schur’s tweet below from a few weeks back:

I really want to see where this goes with Chidi. Knowing The Good Place, it will be a one-liner kind of joke that goes by in about four seconds and will take you a moment to process.

And no, don’t expect this episode to be Halloween-themed just because it’s airing on October 31. This isn’t a Halloween Heist.

Next. The Good Place: Everyone is improving on their past selves. dark
