Fantastic Beasts: Is it a problem if Leta Lestrange does not return?
By Callum Gunn
With Zoë Kravitz cast as Catwoman, her future in Fantastic Beasts as Leta Lestrange has come into focus, but is it really a problem if Leta Lestrange does not return?
Before anyone is smart, yes we are fully aware Leta Lestrange was killed off in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and there is still no official word whether she is be coming back for the third, or any other future installments, of the franchise.
However, this is a movie about magic and plenty of people have come back from the dead before and if not via resurrection they have come back via flashbacks. So, it is plausible that Zoë Kravitz could return.

Now that Kravitz has landed the role of Catwoman in the upcoming Batman movie, the question of is Lea Lestrage coming back for Fantastic Beasts 3 seems to have been answered. We’ve already discussed the likely hood of Kravitz returning as Leta, but let’s just assume for one moment that she is definitely not returning.
Is it a problem? Will it affect the overall Fantastic Beasts story?
Well, until we see all fives movies we won’t know for sure, but taking things are they are right now. Yes, I think it will make a difference if she does not return.

Leta Lestrange is no minor character. First of all, she has a major connection to the Harry Potter franchise. Secondly, she featured not just in one, but both the first and second Fantastic Beasts storyline. Thirdly, she had this incredible back story explored in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald; a back story that I reckon was only the tip of the iceberg.
To have created and solidified this major character and to only kill her off and be done with her completely after merely two movies just doesn’t seem quite right to me. I don’t know why. I can’t put my finger on it right now, other than it just feels like everything came to an end too soon and a void has been left behind.
Like I said. Until all five movies have been released, we will not know for sure if Leta’s story coming to an end right now will be a big problem or not. It might not, but, assuming Kravitz cannot return to the franchise, something I stress has neither been confirmed or denied, this is all just speculation, but I do think the franchise will suffer if she does not.
What do you think? If Kravitz does not return to Fantastic Beasts do you think the Wizarding World franchise will suffer? If so, leave your thoughts just below explaining why.
