The Crown’s season 3 trailer is finally here. The new season drops on Netflix November 17. Watch the full trailer below and see the new cast.

It’s been two years since we last checked in with Claire Foy’s Queen Elizabeth II on Netflix’s hit royal drama The Crown, which chronicles the monarch’s reign.

There has been much buzz over recasting between seasons 2 and 3 for handling the drama that occurs in later periods, and we finally have a trailer showing off the new cast.

Watch the official trailer for the third season of The Crown here:

Olivia Colman, who won an Oscar this past year for her portrayal of Queen Anne in The Favourite, takes over for Foy, wearing an amazing pink hat and suit in the first few moments of the trailer. While I’m sure we can expect a more restrained performance this time around, watching Colman’s handling of the Camilla Bowles scandal is going to be delicious.

Tobias Menzies, perhaps best known for his roles on Outlander (but also, check him out in Catastrophe), grabs the reins from Matt Smith as Prince Philip. Menzies is one of those classically underrated character actors who is sure to dazzle on screen with Colman.

To add to the wealth of riches, Helena Bonham Carter picks up Vanessa Kirby’s mantle as Princess Margaret. The trailer teases at the continued tension and resentment between the sisters, which will be enormous fun to watch Carter and Colman play with.

Season 3 also introduces Josh O’Connor as a young Prince Charles who will have to learn for himself what the weight of The Crown means. O’Connor seems born for the role with his adorably ears.

So what all can we expect this season? As the trailer hints, the “times are a-changin’.” According to Entertainment Weekly:

"“Season 3 will track the British royal family through the ’60s and ’70s, a period of huge upheaval in the United Kingdom and that is reflected in the footage shown in the promo clip, from the introduction of Labour prime minister Harold Wilson (Jason Watkins) to the turbulence of the 1972 miners’ strike.”"

Oddly enough, season 3 picks up in 1964, the same year season 2 left off, but will span 12 years. While the recasting may seem odd initially, it will benefit the time jumps as the season progresses.
