Fantastic Beasts: Will Zoë Kravitz return as Leta Lestrange?

With Zoë Kravitz cast as Catwoman in the upcoming Matt Reeves Batman movie, will it be possible for the actress to return as Leta Lestrange in Fantastic Beasts?

No doubt you saw the news, but if you somehow missed it, Zoë Kravitz has officially been cast as Catwoman. She will be starring alongside Robert Pattinson in the upcoming 2021 Batman movie by Matt Reeves. This news, while amazing, has cast doubt over whether she will return as Leta Lestrange in future Fantastic Beasts movies.

While her character was killed of towards the end of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, it has neither been confirmed or denied whether she would be coming back in future installments. Director David Yates refused to confirm the fate of Leta when prompted in an interview shortly after the movies release.

Consensus among the Wizarding World fandom is she will be back. Considering how influential a character she is and the fact she was introduced in the first installment of Fantastic Beasts along with having a major story line in Crimes of Grindelwald, it seems odd that her story would come to an end so quickly considering there is another three movies in the works.

Flashbacks exploring more of Leta’s story is the bare minimum fans are expecting. With some thinking she will be brought back and others suspecting she hasn’t been killed off at all and in is in fact a prisoner of Grindelwald’s right now.

However, now that Kravitz has been cast as Catwoman, many fans think that is it. Leta is done. She will not be back, but that isn’t necessarily the case.

First, it depends on how much filming Kravitz will have to do on the set of The Batman and how much she will be needed for Fantastic Beasts; if she is needed at all. Second, both movies are produced by Warner Bros. Studios. This will make it much easier for Kravitz to go between the two movies if needed.

The point is, is just because Kravitz has been cast as Catwoman; it doesn’t mean she is no longer available to be Leta Lestrange. It is possible for her to juggle the two high profile movies.

For now, we just need to wat and see what happens. Production has not yet begun on Fantastic Beasts 3 and until it does, anything is possible.
