The Good Place season 4 episode 4 preview: An unexpected visitor
The Good Place looks like it’s about to shake things up as an unexpected visitor rolls into the Neighborhood this week. Who can it be?
The Good Place really has its narrative curveball perfected. Which really doesn’t bode well for this latest experiment.
Especially when things seem to finally be back on track for the Soul Squad.
Here is the official synopsis for this week’s episode, “Tinker, Tailor, Demon, Spy,” courtesy of NBC:
"“Uncertainty abounds when an unexpected visitor arrives.”"
I already preached about this over the weekend, but the biggest theory going around the interwebs is that it’s the real Michael or Janet. Who was switched out on the train back to the Bad Place at the end of the first episode this season.
That makes the most sense, at least. But what if it’s the opposite? What if Janet and/or Michael wasn’t actually swapped out in that scene? Nothing actually happened. But now there’s a demon wearing a Michael suit–or a Bad Janet posing as a Good Janet–arriving in the Neighborhood and claiming the Michael/Janet we’ve seen this season is a demon in disguise.
That would create some uncertainty for sure.
Then again, they could probably just rip off the Michael suit or rip off the brunette Janet wig to figure it out, but we have to remember that the Bad Place is craftier than we keep thinking. There’s more to their plan than just picking the three inhabitants and trying to smuggle in a demon.
No, their big play feels like it’s coming in this week’s episode. And while our team seems in a good place with how things have progressed, how they react could spell doom for this final experiment.
But… did we really expect this experiment to last the whole final season? We’ll just have to see where The Good Place wants to go from here.
