During tonight’s episode of Batwoman, it looks like we’ll be learning more about Alice — and getting way more Wonderland references to boot.

The series premiere of Batwoman set viewers up for a seriously intense female-led story, one that has two women at its center: Kate Kane and her long-lost sister Alice. Of course, Kate has no idea that Alice even is her sister yet. That reveal came at the end of last week’s episode, and naturally, it left fans with plenty of questions.

For one, how did she survive all these years — and why didn’t she seek out her family before now? We’d also love to know more about her hatred for her father and her feelings about her sister. And it’s possible we’ll start getting answers during this week’s episode of the show.

“The Rabbit Hole” references Alice in its title alone — playing off of her obsession with Alice in Wonderland — but its promo trailer also shows us more of the character. It seems she’s up to no good yet again — big surprise there — and she and her minions appear to be taking joy in the destruction they leave behind them at every turn.

The promo footage also had another surprise in store for fans: It looks like Kate’s figured out Alice’s identity. “Alice is Beth,” she tells her family — all but confirming that some serious familial drama is about to go down while Alice attempts to wreak havoc on Gotham. And given that Kate and her father are the ones fighting, perhaps Kate is going to have a soft spot for her sister, even in spite of all her crimes.

Kate’s internal conflict over Alice is also likely to extend to her already-strained relationship with Sophie. “She’s a monster,” Sophie insists in the trailer — and while she’s not wrong, it sounds like she’s having a difficult time convincing Kate.

These relationships are what will fuel the action in this series, so it seems that fans are in for a wild ride tonight. Despite the fact that Batwoman is still setting things up, there also looks to be more than enough action in “The Rabbit Hole.” And we’re here for every minute of it.
