By Callum Gunn
UK and Ireland fans of Harry Potter got some excellent news last week. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is getting the House Edition makeover.
If you’re looking to add more to your House Editions of the Harry Potter books, there’s some excellent news. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is getting the House Edition treatment, and UK and Ireland fans will be able to get their hands on the books in January 2020.

The Leaky Cauldron states that those who pre-order will get a foil print with their edition. This foil print is also available to fans in Australia and New Zealand, but isn’t available elsewhere. There’s no release date yet for the House Editions in the United States. Scholastic is missing out!
Like previous editions, each of the House versions has something important from the story for the individual houses or some of the characters. As with previous editions, the hardback book is the house color with the secondary color as stripes on the edges of the paper. The paperback version has a black base to the cover with the house color on the edges of the paper and within the symbols on the front.
The Goblet of Fire is the central point of all books. There’s also a beetle on all four covers, representing Rita Skeeter in her Animagus form.
Hufflepuff
Goblet of Fire is a major book in the series for Hufflepuff with Cedric Digory being one of the contenders for the Tri-Wizard tournament and the first death Harry Potter knowingly saw (and the first death we ever saw outside of the flashbacks of Harry’s parents). Because of that, we’ll start with that edition.
The book includes the maze around the Goblet of Fire in the center. Within the maze, you’ll see the Acromantula, the Blast-Ended Skrewt, a sphinx, and a boggart. The cup sits at the top of the maze. You’ll spot a Niffler in the bottom left corner, which represents Earth, the element of the Hufflepuff house, and there’s a beetle in the bottom right corner, and at the start of the maze, you’ll also see Cedric Digory ready to get started on his journey for the cup.

Ravenclaw
The Beauxbatons get a lot of attention on the Ravenclaw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire House Edition cover. The carriage is used with the winged horses to represent the Ravenclaw element, air. Meanwhile, Fleur Delacour is the figure at the bottom of the maze of winged horses. Finally, Garrick Ollivander, a Ravenclaw alum, is at the very top going through the Weighing of the Wands ceremony.
Slytherin
Durmstrang gets the attention on the Slytherin cover, with the ship in the top right. This isn’t that surprising since the students from the school sat with the Slytherin students when at Hogwarts. At the bottom, Viktor Krum stands with the maze of tentacles around the Goblet of Fire. Those tentacles are for giant squid in Hogwarts lake to represent the Slytherin’s element, water.
At the very top, there’s the gravestone of Tom Riddle. You knew a connection to The Dark Lord had to be there, right?
Gryffindor
For Gryffindor, it won’t be a surprise to know that Harry Potter is at the bottom of the symbols. He’s riding his Firebolt, heading for the Golden Egg. In the bottom right, Mad-Eye Moody’s eye is the symbol to remind us of him, while the Hungarian Horntail dragon takes up space up the right to mark the first Triwizard task.
In the top left is a set of fireworks, which were set off in the Gryffindor common room. At the very top is the head of Sirius Black in the Gryffindor common room fireplace.
