It looks like Shelby Flannery will be joining the cast of The 100 as a regular for the show’s seventh and final season. What could this mean for the story going forward?

The sixth season of The 100 left fans on quite the cliffhanger regarding Octavia Blake’s fate and her connection to the Anomaly, and some recent casting news for season seven suggests that we’ll be diving headfirst into that storyline during the show’s remaining episodes.

According to CBR, the series has added actress Shelby Flannery as a regular for its final season — meaning we’ll likely be seeing plenty of Diyoza’s daugther, Hope, as we progress toward the series’ ending. We’ve only met Hope once so far, and she didn’t give off the best impression. She emerges from the Anomaly and stabs Octavia, presumably on the orders of someone who’s captured her mother.

The rest of the sixth season finale focuses on Bellamy’s reaction to the incident, but it seems as though Hope might have remained with Skaikru when the Anomaly returned to normal after the strange surge that occurred. We’re also betting that she’ll be the key to leading Skaikru back into the Anomaly in the hopes of finding out what happened to Octavia.

Given that Hope is going to be a prominent character this season, there’s also a good chance that we’ll be hearing more about Diyoza in future episodes. While The 100 has never failed to remind us of Diyoza’s dark and criminal past, the series has never delved too deeply into what she did to achieve her notoriety.

Flannery’s casting, however, gives fans hope that we’ll learn more about Diyoza’s character before the series ends — and that there might still be a chance of figuring out the Anomaly and finding Octavia. We’re excited to see what else the actress brings to the table during The 100‘s final run, and we’re definitely thrilled by the possibilities her inclusion brings to the final season’s story.
