Tom Hiddleston claims Loki will face the most ‘formidable’ foes yet in Disney+ series
Tom Hiddleston has been hyping up his Disney+ series pretty often these days. But what villains will the God of Mischief face when the Loki miniseries finally arrives?
Tom Hiddleston has been teasing his Disney+ miniseries, Loki, with increasing enthusiasm as of late — and we get it because we’re just as excited as he is. And during one of his most recent discussions about the show, Hiddleston told MTV News that Loki will be facing some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most formidable foes yet in the upcoming episodes.
“Playing him [Loki], and playing him truthfully, but presenting him with new challenges which then have to change him in different ways is the most exciting aspect of it,” Hiddleston explained. “You have his specific gifts, his intelligence, his treachery, his mischief, his magic, and then seeing him come up against more formidable opponents, the like of which he has ever seen or known.”

Hiddleston’s comments are especially loaded when fans consider that we just ended the third phase of the MCU with the battle against Thanos. Given that the two of them have crossed paths on more than one occasion, we have to imagine Thanos is included in that “the like of which he has ever seen or known” category. And honestly, it’s hard to imagine that Loki could find a new villain who’s more intimidating than the guy who wiped out half of the population.
Comic characters Karnilla and Amora are among the possible villains fans believe might appear in Loki, and both would certainly present a challenge to the God of Mischief. Amora, also known as the Enchantress, has magical abilities that can rival his own. And Karnilla is also a powerful sorceress, one that actually made Amora what she is. Either of the two would be matches for Loki, and they’d both be even more dangerous if they got their hands on the Space Stone he’s carrying.
Whoever these “formidable” opponents are, it’ll be interesting to see how Loki handles himself around them. We’ve only seen Loki fend off bad guys with the other Avengers present, so watching him do so on his own will offer fans new insights into his character.
During his interview, Hiddleston also revealed that the miniseries will consist of six episodes — meaning we’ll be getting six-ish hours of Loki’s shenanigans, along with six-ish hours of threats from whichever new villain the MCU is throwing our way. That sounds like plenty of time to spent among mischief and magic, and we can’t wait to see what Loki brings to the table.
