Disney is reportedly not too happy with New Mutants and already having issues

When Disney merged with Fox, many were concerned about our favorite Marvel properties now, pretty much, all being owned by the Mouse but apparently, there’s more.

We all often make jokes about the Mouse and all the Disney owns but now, with the Fox merger, there is a bit more to our jokes. Especially when it seems as if Disney is already not happy with Fox’s recent performances at the box office. With New Mutants on the horizon, Disney is reportedly saying that they don’t see the large box office potential for the film and are disappointed in the box office numbers for X-Men: Dark Phoenix, the Art of Racing in the Rain, and Stuber.

Fans of New Mutants are already well aware of the delays that have plagued the project. Even Maisie Williams had to break the news to her fans about the film and it has been an ongoing cycle of many of us wondering if we’re ever going to see the movie at all.

Now, with the news that Disney is not happy with it, odds are we probably will not see New Mutants at all or, if we do, it’ll be a straight to Disney+ release. That being said, maybe, in the long-run, this is a good thing because so many of the X-Men based properties that Fox has released have been a disappointing blow to fans (with the recent exceptions of Deadpool and Logan).

Still, New Mutants, which is meant to be a ‘horror-esque’ spin-off did seem like an interesting departure from the world of X-Men that Fox had been selling us previously. While the issue isn’t that Disney hated the movie but rather didn’t see the box office potential, it could mean that it isn’t a bad take on these characters.

Will we ever get the chance to see New Mutants or is this going to be another movie just lost to the ether that we wished we could have had? Who knows, but we’ll have to wait and see what the Mouse decides to do with it.

Next. Disney+ is already planning to reboot four iconic Fox franchises. dark
