The 100: 6 questions we have after the sixth season finale

facebooktwitterreddit

The 100’s sixth season finale brought several big storylines to a close, but it still left fans with plenty of questions heading into the show’s final season.

The sixth season of The 100 took fans on a wild ride, introducing us to entirely new storylines, while also fleshing out some of the conflicts between characters that carried over from season five. And “The Blood of Sanctum” does a decent job of wrapping up all of the show’s previous plotlines, even if it does introduce a new mystery in preparation for season seven: the Anomaly.

The Anomaly has loomed in the background of the most recent season, a mystery that the characters and viewers didn’t pay much attention to — and with all the body-snatching going on, who can really blame them? But the season finale brought the Anomaly to the forefront of the series, and it left fans off on a pretty major cliffhanger surrounding the phenomenon.

Because of that, even with all of the resolutions that occurred during “The Blood of Sanctum,” fans are heading into season seven with a lot of questions. Here are six of the biggest ones we’d like answered.

Is Octavia still alive?

This is the question on every fan’s mind, and it’s the one that’s going to make waiting for season seven the hardest. “The Blood of Sanctum” closes with Octavia reentering the Anomaly and being stabbed by a grown-up Hope, right before turning into mist in Bellamy’s arms.

If it weren’t for all of the weird Anomaly stuff going on, we’d say Octavia is definitely a goner. But given the bizarre chain of events surrounding her death, we’re holding out hope that she’ll return to her brother. And hey, there technically isn’t a body…

What happened during Octavia’s first trip into the Anomaly?

Earlier this season, Octavia and Diyoza entered the Anomaly together — but only Octavia came back out. It seemed like Diyoza was gone for good, but then the finale introduced us to a grown-up Hope. And the interaction between her and Octavia suggests that more transpired in the Anomaly than we anticipated.

For starters, someone appears to be holding Diyoza captive. They also seem to have it out for Octavia. And Octavia and Hope recognized one another, which means Octavia might have been around for the girl’s childhood.

We have plenty of questions, and this is the most important: Does this mean we’ll get our buddy-cop spin-off series following Octavia and Diyoza all those years they were in the Anomaly?

Is Sheidheda actually gone?

“The Blood of Sanctum” brought Madi back from Sheidheda’s clutches, but that doesn’t mean the Dark Commander is gone for good. To be honest, his defeat seems way too easy — and it’s totally possible he found a way to insert himself into the Eligius ship’s control system while Raven erased him from Madi’s mind.

Will Sheidheda strike back against Skaikru during the final season? And if he does, what will it take to finally destroy him?

Is the time of the commanders truly over?

The Flame has determined who will lead the grounders for the entirety of the series — with the exception of Octavia’s reign following Praimfaya — but it seems Wonkru will need to find a new way to choose its leaders. The Flame was destroyed when it was removed from Madi’s head, meaning the time of the commanders may have reached its end.

There are also plenty of people parading around with Nightblood after all those transfusions, so that trait no longer makes Madi special or “chosen.” With all that in mind, who will lead the grounders now?

What happened to Russell?

In the chaos of removing Sheidheda and the Flame from Madi’s head, we never get to see what happens to Russell Lightbourne after everything he’s done. Most of his people get floated early on in the episode, but when Skaikru returns to the New World, there’s no big fuss made about him.

Is he a prisoner now? And will he find a way to cause more trouble next season? After all, he officially has nothing else to lose…

Was Jasper right all along?

Throughout the sixth season, the characters focus most of their energy on “being the good guys.” And while they tried their hardest to fulfill Monty’s dying wish, we need to ask: Did they actually succeed? Jordan doesn’t seem to think so.

When Bellamy and the others leave Sanctum, Jordan decides to stay behind. He tells Bellamy that he’s remaining to “clean up their mess,” and he points out that the people of Sanctum were living peacefully before they arrived. So, does this mean Jasper was right all along? Are Clarke and the others the problem after all?
