Don’t panic, but here’s what we want to see from Hulu’s The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Grab your towels and prepare for the scheduled destruction of the Earth because The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is getting a Hulu series. Sorry, Arthur Dent, you’ll have to deal with the perils of the Earth once more.

Popularized by a British radio show, turned novel series, turned film, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is getting a Hulu series. With so much of the galaxy left uncharted, we need guidance. With a vast fandom, the Hulu series will give us a tutorial to the strangest intergalactic hotspots — you know, with a lot of expected chaos, of course.

Deadline reports Carlton Cuse and Jason Fuchs will helm the Hulu series as executive producers and showrunners. Likewise, Fuchs will pen the script. Thanks to the rich lore in the lengthy book series, the adapted show has a lot of impassioned source material to work with.

Similar to the books, radio show, and the film, the Hulu series will shadow the disoriented main character, Arthur Dent. As IGN notes, the plot will follow Earth’s demolition (courtesy of the galaxy’s biggest bully: the Vogons).

As we can already assume, Arther’s misadventure will allow him to cross paths with Beeblebrox and Trillian. Beyond that, we have some stories we’d love to see in the Hulu series.

1. More cordial introductions

An extensive guide to anything requires context. So, we want to see the many faces and characters through the fandom. With interesting characters like Princess Hooli, Thor (yes, that Thor), and Lintilla (who incidentally has many faces, thanks to her billions of clones), it couldn’t seem like a proper guide without a plethora of characters and worldbuilding.

2. Some TV-adaptations based on Mostly Harmless

That’s right, we want the Hulu series to be a family affair. And Arthur’s family isn’t complete without Trillian, his daughter, Random Dent, and Random’s pursuit to be an intergalactic reporter. Same, Random, same.

3. And The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

At stated before, we want to delve into the deepest reaches of the galaxy. The film (the more popular Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy interpretation in America) is more heavily influenced by So Long, and Thanks for All The Fish and The Ultimate Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. And we’re ready to see how the series will take on the conflict in The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

4. Vogon assassins

No post-world-demolition is complete without being hunted down by the aliens — you know, the same aliens, that destroyed your planet for a more convenient traffic system. We might seem cynical in our selfish desires to see Arthur running from Vogons while trying to find a rumors Earthling civilian. Nonetheless, the series could take some interesting new approaches on some rogue and eccentric Vogons after they blow up the Earth.

We can’t wait to see what intergalactic and planetary laws Arthur is bound to break and what other mayhem awaits him. Overall, we just want to see the Hulu series bring some under-told stories to a television format because we still have a lot of questions that only The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy can answer.
