Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD preview: Will we see a return of a familiar face?
Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD barrels towards its season finale. With only a handful of episodes left, what old friends may pop up to aid the team against Izel?
Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD answered a fair amount of questions in last week’s episode. And while that may have made it a little exposition-heavy, it was nice to get some answers.
And it was even more nice for Fitz to throw out an old friend’s name that I also have mentioned this season: Ghost Rider. More on that in a second.
Here’s the official synopsis for this week’s episode, “From the Ashes,” courtesy of ABC:
"Out of answers and running out of time, the agents must face the ghosts of their past in order to move forward."
You have to be pretty hopeful that we’re going to see the return of Gabriel Luna‘s Ghost Rider in one of these last three episodes. This week’s episode being titled “From the Ashes” sounds like a great title for the return of Ghost Rider.
And the fact that the word “ghosts” is in the official synopsis feels just a little too on the nose for Agents of SHIELD.
I’m jumping the gun a bit, so let’s backtrack. Izel revealed that Sarge is part of a different realm of body-less beings with insane powers and he’s going to help her in her quest to free their realm across the universe. He looks like Coulson because when Coulson entered the fear dimension, the combined powers of the three monoliths created a perfect copy of Coulson and flung him through space and time and created Sarge.
This is all assuming Fitz’s theorizing is correct and Izel is telling the full truth. Which really hasn’t happened much this season.
With only three episodes left in the next two weeks, Agents of SHIELD is ready to unleash Sarge’s full potential on our SHIELD team. That doesn’t bode well for anyone.
