San Diego Comic-Con: The 3 biggest things that happened on day four
This year’s San Diego Comic-Con has come to an end, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to reflect on from its final day.
This year’s San Diego Comic-Con wrapped up yesterday, after a weekend full of announcements and trailer releases for some of our favorite franchises.
As always, Marvel and DC had a significant presence at the show, with Marvel even releasing its Phase 4 lineup over the weekend. But HBO, Netflix, and AMC had some pretty significant reveals in store as well. The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead both had big news to share with fans, and upcoming series like The Witcher and His Dark Materials also had highly anticipated previews.
The surprises for fans were significantly less on the last day of SDCC, but there were still a few exciting things happening. Here are a few moments that we found noteworthy.
The animated Harley Quinn trailer dropped.
Fans of the DC Universe will probably be waiting a while for the next Suicide Squad film, but they can follow Harley Quinn and the Joker in DC’s new animated series, Harley Quinn. The trailer for it dropped yesterday, and it actually looks fairly entertaining. Of course, we’re onboard for anything that involves a sassy villainess kicking butt. Also, judging by the trailer, this series is definitely for adults.
The Supernatural cast had an emotional panel before their final season.
After a 15-season run, saying farewell to Supernatural isn’t going to be easy for the fans or for the cast and crew. That became obvious during the show’s panel yesterday, when even Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles admitted to getting a little teary-eyed when speaking with fans — something that surely breaks Dean Winchester’s “no chick-flick moments” rule.
Showrunner Andrew Dabb also teased a huge series finale, one that he compared to Game of Thrones’ recent ending, which saw a ton of controversy after airing. Is anyone else just a little worried?
The Riverdale panel revealed season four details and an upcoming tribute to Luke Perry.
Another panel that was full of emotion on Sunday was Riverdale’s. After the passing of actor Luke Perry, the show’s fourth season is bound to be an emotional one. And the cast and crew revealed during the event that the next season will contain a tribute episode for the late actor, a touching way to commemorate his role on the series.
During the event, the panelists also previewed the upcoming season, delving into some of the struggles the characters will deal with and discussing the major themes going forward.
