It’s official: The Walking Dead season 10 has a premiere date

Just ahead of The Walking Dead season 10 trailer reveal at SDCC, fans finally learned when the new season will air on AMC.

The Walking Dead fans can officially rest easy: The hiatus is almost over. While sometimes it feels like it’s been forever since the show aired, the tenth season premiere is rapidly approaching. In a Facebook post today, it was revealed that The Walking Dead’s next season will kick off on October 6. The premiere date lines up with New York Comic Con, which ends on the same day.

Traditionally, the season premiere of The Walking Dead has aired later in October. But last year, the premiere was held at NYCC, and it looks like that will be the case again this year. The early premiere date also means that there will be just a short break between the end of Fear The Walking Dead season five and the start of The Walking Dead season 10.

Now that a third series set in The Walking Dead universe is in the works — and is currently filming — fans will be able to stay immersed in TWD universe all year long. As one show ends for the season, another will be premiering. Since both TWD and FTWD are currently number one in their time slots on Sunday nights, AMC is obviously investing heavily in the franchise to make itself the home of the undead on Cable TV.

There’s a lot of new information coming out about TWD season 10 this week. Fans are hoping that there will be news about the Rick Grimes movies, as well as a possible title reveal for the new TV series, which will follow two young female protagonists who have grown up in the aftermath of the fall as they navigate the post-apocalypse world.

Tomorrow is the day that TWD fans are really waiting for, though, because that’s when AMC will debut the official trailer for season 10. The panel is being held tomorrow afternoon in Hall H and will be moderated by Chris Hardwick. During the panel, the trailer will drop, and fans will get their first look at the approaching conflict with The Whisperers — along with what lies ahead for the survivors.
