Chris Evans’ beard looks amazing in the trailer for The Red Sea Diving Resort

The Red Sea Diving Resort looks like a great movie in its own right but the most important thing about it is that Chris Evans’ beard is back. And it looks great.

Like most of us who saw Avengers: Endgame, you probably found yourself bereft at the loss of Captain America’s majestic Infinity War beard.

Yes, sure, the shaving largely made plot-based sense. But was that really enough of a reason to deprive of Chris Evans in full bearded Steve Rogers glory? I think not.

(And apparently I’m willing to die on this hill. Fight me.)

At any rate, there’s good news out there for movie fans still thirsting for Evans’ beard on the big screen. (Or your TV at home. Whatever.) He’s got a new movie coming out, and the Beard is both present and glorious in its first trailer.

Titled The Red Sea Diving Resort, this Netflix film is based on an inspirational true story. Evans plays Ari Levinson, the undercover leader of an international rescue mission to smuggle refugees out of war-torn Ethiopia into Israel. With the help of a courageous local man (played by The Wire’s Michael K. Williams), the group uses an abandoned holiday retreat – the titular Red Sea Diving Resort – as a front for these missions, which rescued thousands of people.

If the trailer is anything to go by, this film feels more than a bit similar to films like Argo and Captain Phillips, or really any real-life movie about ordinary people managing to do extraordinary things in the name of helping their fellow man. It also probably means you should pack tissues, at least if you are me.

It’s a bit strange to see Evans out here doing so much work that doesn’t involve a superhero costume and a shield. (See also: The trailer for Star Wars director Rian Johnson’s upcoming film Knives Out.

But, it’s only naturally that the stars of the Avengers move on eventually, and it’s kind of exciting to see what sort of projects Evans signs on to, now that he’s basically hung up Captain America’s shield for good. (At least for now, anyway.)

And, hey, if he gets to keep the beard more often, it might just be worth it in the end.
