Pop Culture Passport: Atlanta, Georgia and Stranger Things

July is here, which means a brand new season of Stranger Things has finally debuted to anxious fans. Imagine visiting the iconic locations!

Here at Culturess, we cannot get enough of those Stranger Things kids and the creepy monsters they keep encountering. If you’re like us and want to relive some of those moments from the Netflix show we’ve rounded up some of our favorites for a brand new Pop Culture Passport.

Most of these locations are relatively easy to get to and all centered around Atlanta, Georgia. Today though, we’re really focusing on some of the most iconic places from the series. So grab your Eggo Waffles, and let’s hit the road.

Where to stay: Atlanta Alpaca Treehouse in Bamboo Forest

For a super fun and unique place to stay, you’re going to want to check out the Atlanta Alpaca Treehouse in Bamboo Forest. This AirBnB can sleep four guests in one room and has amazing views of a working bamboo farm with real alpacas! (Cue all of the “alpaca my bags” jokes.) The location is great for those who want to be a little ways out of the city but still close enough to the filming locations not to have a long drive.

Where to grab a drink: Bradley’s Olde Tavern

The movie theater in Hawkins is actually a bar you can enjoy a drink or a snack in Jackson, Georgia. The bar features craft beer and wine, along with a variety of mixed drinks. We suggest getting one of those craft beers and just enjoying the atmosphere of the place. Before you leave, be sure to get a photo out front where the Oak Street sidewalk marker is.

Where to eat: Tiffany’s Kitchen

Tiffany’s Kitchen might be known as Benny’s Burgers to Stranger Things fans. The burger shop is where viewers are first introduced to Eleven. The location is still open for people to walk in and grab a bite to eat, and it looks pretty similar to the set up for filming! This is a pretty popular local spot, so you might have to wait a few minutes to be seated, but it’s so worth it to reenact scenes from Stranger Things for Instagram.

What to do for fun: The Palace Arcade

The arcade the kids go to at the beginning of season two of Stranger Things is still there in Douglasville, Georgia. Well, kind of. It’s an old laundromat that’s had a bit of an upgrade to the exterior. We love this for a great Instagram photo to make all of your friends and family jealous you stood where Mad Max beat the boys at classic arcade games.
